Asset Overview

Assets Overview

Managing assets is a critical aspect of the ProFile application. With ProFile, you can quickly understand the state of their production operations in the context of the machines, equipment, dies, molds, and inserts that they use to produce goods every day. Each of these specific items is an “Asset” in the context of the ProFile System.

There are two categories of assets, real-time and static.

Real-time assets are assets that are connected to the system and provide real time status information and data. In the example below, you can see the asset dashboard, which includes detailed information about downtime, preventative maintenance, production orders, and key operational metrics.

Static assets are assets that do not send data to the system. Status and data information is updated manually by users in the ProFile system. In the example, below, the asset dashboard does not show any charts or other metrics about the performance of the asset.

Asset Management

You can manage assets from the asset screen, where assets can be edited or located by searching and browsing. You cannot create new assets in the system. To purchase additional assets, please contact support@profile-system.com or contact your account manager.

To access the asset screen:

1. Select the assets button from the left hand navigation bar.

On the asset screen you can search for specific assets and filter/customize the list to your needs. Read the related article "Searching for Assets and Saving Views" for more information.

Configuring Assets

Through the asset screen you can select particular assets to manage them in further detail. Click on any asset ID in the assets screen list to access the details of that particular asset.

Asset Definitions

Asset Locations

Assets in ProFile have both a plant location and a GPS location. For further information on Asset Locations read the related article, "Asset Location Overview."

Asset File Cabinet

You can upload helpful files to associate them with particular assets. Every asset has a file cabinet to store associated files such as manuals, general Information, etc. Other users can then download those files from the asset file cabinet as needed. For instruction on how to use the Asset File cabinet read the related article, "Asset File Cabinet."

Downloading Assets

You can download assets in a spreadsheet file format which contains all of the associated asset metadata. The assets are grouped by asset class in tabs at the bottom of the spreadsheet file.

Read the related article, "Downloading Assets," for more information.
